William "Bill" Adorno had an amazing life, full of adventure and travelling the world. An obituary just wouldn't come close to summarizing his character and his life. This blog hopes to capture his essence through vignettes and photos.
I welcome anyone who knew Bill to share their stories....especially the funny ones, as there were many.

It is with sadness that I write this note. Bill is a teacher for me. He first took me to his heart at Barton Springs Pool. Each morning I would look for him, hoping I had not missed him and would get another opportunity to swim and listen to his stories. The whole world came to the springs in his stories. Quips and comments kept me laughing and always thinking because everything was tied to living a life of freedom and respect for others. His New York sense of humor was sometimes a mystery for others and left them wondering. The day he was asked to be interviewed by a TV crew and brought his old towel with him as if it was a child's favorite blanket is a good example.
ReplyDeleteBill sought out the folks who had expertise and wisdom. He listened to hear what someone wanted to say, to be sure they were heard.
I love his "Good on You" that made someone feel they were appreciated.
When Bill stopped coming to the pool, I tried to coax him back.. once or twice he allowed me to bring him, but as he explained.. things change and we go with it...
I have missed him at the pool and sometimes got to visit at the house.. but now memories must do the work of presence... Good on You!, Bill Adorno
Good on You Peter!
